You’ve heard the phrase 1k times online “Lead with value”
BUT 99% of the people don’t.
They make everything about themselves and have alterer motives.
Is anybody on LinkedIn or Twitter?
You know exactly what I’m talking about.
Exhibit A…
I’ve never met Kevin in my life and get thousands of messages exactly like this.
Why would I respond to Kevin’s vague message?
He clearly doesn’t give a damn about me.
How to network and build relationships online
The best relationships are give-and-take (mutually beneficial) relationships.
Ever been in a one-sided relationship?
They don’t last long – trust me.
So…
How do I lead with value online?
Follow my strategy exactly and you’ll get messages like this:
This will work for anyone who is willing to put in the work.
Let’s go…
Step 1: Find someone online you’re interested in
Step 2: Send an engaging message online making it all about them
Example:
Step 3: Find their interests and add value by:
- Relationship introduction
- Sharing resources (articles, videos, insights, etc)
- Buy their products and share insights
- Like, Comment, and Share content
Continue to add value over the next three months.
After you’ve built up some goodwill move on to the next step.
Step 4: Ask for something…
You’ve now proven yourself to lead with value and be a man of worth.
Now it’s your turn.
You could ask them the following…
- Thoughts on a project you’re working on
- To be a guest on your podcast
- Advise
It doesn’t have to be anything crazy.
Start with a small request, and as your relationship grows, you can gradually make bigger asks.
That’s it.
Building relationships isn’t an exact science and is more of an art.
If you prioritize value and being authentic, people will be receptive to your message and presence.
Cheers,
