Most rich people are too lazy to clean their own houses!
Or so I thought.
When I was younger I always remember thinking that if I were ever making a lot of money I would clean my own house as if it was a badge of honor. In my pea-sized brain, I wrongfully assumed rich people were lazy and didn’t want to clean up after themselves.
Why would a rich person pay for such a service?I couldn’t figure it out. Then I became older, wiser, and richer, and soon found out why.
Answer: Opportunity cost
You make $100 an hour and it will take you 3 hours to clean your whole house every week. If you were to hire yourself to do it the cost would be $300. If you hire a service to do it for $20 an hour it would cost you $60 a week.
$300 – $60 = $240 (true opportunity cost)
Cleaning your house in this example wouldn’t be the best use of your time. You would be better off outsourcing it.
Time is the scarcest resource and people at the next level know this.
If you want to be wealthy, spend your time relaxing, or earning.
Outsource or ignore everything else.
